Have you tried giving the video a title in Photos and exporting (file menu => Export) using the export option to set file name to title? You can't name/rename files when you export them from Photos. If you can't propose a helpful solution please just don't respond. Responses that will not be helpful or appreciated are ones that pick apart my terminology for loopholes or suggest that I "title" a photo.
Please let me know if you have a way to correct this problem. This, however, not being able to rename my files, is a deal breaker for me. I have been an Apple user my entire adult life, reasoning that although I give up a fair amount of control over how I'd like my computer to run, at least I'm not getting indecipherable error messages like I do on Windows computers. I try to make a copy and export it to somewhere else on my computer so I can rename the file, but I can't figure that out either, I can only export to worthless social media sites.
APP PHOTO RENAMER UPDATE
I tried going back to iPhoto, but alas I can't get it to open without updating, and since that app is no longer supported I'm not able to update it. Tried finding the file in Finder so that I could rename it that way but no dice, I can't find it. I took a photo of myself with Photo Booth, and exported it to Photos so I could crop it/find it easily, but can't rename the file in the Application. The school asks that I email them the picture as an attachment, with the last name and first initial as the file name (eg: John Smith's picture would be titled "smithj.jpg"). I need a picture of myself for my photo ID for school. So, I will lay out the exact situation I'm in: I read at least 5 threads regarding this question, and every answer seems to side-step it by trying to convince the person asking the question that they don't REALLY need to re-name a file.
